You may have seen our girls out on the floor doing some training that is different than anything you have seen before in a gymnastics club. Welcome to Speed School! Kent Rodseth has brought a training regiment he use’s on the football field and adjusted it to help make our girls stronger gymnasts.
“The theory is multifaceted. The goal is to improve on their speed, strength, quickness, balance and anaerobic conditioning. The focus is to make them faster and more powerful gymnasts. The byproduct is self-confidence and the understanding that they're working harder than any other girl in any other gym. The workouts are designed to be very physically taxing and it forces them to push through a little physical adversity to get a little more "mentally tough". It's the old theory that the competition should be easier than the practice; with a gymnastics twist.”
I personally have seen the affects of what he is doing for our gymnasts and think a big thank you is overdue for this volunteer effort!
